Tynemouth Canoe Club is a small, very friendly and enthusiastic club that encourages people of all ages and abilities, to take part in paddle sports. We have several family group members; the youngest member aged 7 to our oldest member who is over 80.
We hold indoor sessions at Tynemouth Pool, where beginners learn in a warm safe environment and master the skills and techniques they will require when out on real ‘live’ water. More experienced paddlers practice rescue techniques and perfect their skills.
We organise river trips, beach sessions and family camping and kayaking weekends.
Our beach sessions allow us to really appreciate the beautiful coastline we have at Tynemouth. Depending on weather and tide we paddle through the caves at Cullercoats, along to St Mary’s lighthouse, or stay on the beach, playing in the waves!
We can provide all the equipment and kit necessary for new members to master the basic techniques and skills required. Our qualified coaches thrive on teaching their skills to new members and are delighted to be able to help existing paddlers to improve their skills. We cover many different areas of paddle sport whether you are interested in gently paddling along rivers taking in the sights, the excitement of kayak surfing, sea kayaking or the adrenaline rush of white water paddling or just the opportunity to embrace a completely different sport.
As a club we just want people to come along and experience something different and . . . . . . . Enjoy the adventure.
