Do you do weekly sessions?
We typically run at least two pool sessions a month between September and June. In summer we try to get out a couple of times a month. Our sessions will often depend on the weather conditions and coaching availability. All sessions will be bookable via webcollect.
What days are your sessions?
We typically run pool sessions on a Saturday afternoon. Our outdoor sessions can vary depending on the weather and coaching availability.
What age do you need to be to paddle?
You need to be 7 years or older to join TPC. The type of sessions that children can attend will depend on their age.
- Children aged 7 – 11s can attend swimming pool sessions with a parent or guardian in the water at all times
- Children aged 11 to 13 can attend swimming pool session unattended
- Children aged 14+ can attend outdoors sessions unattended
Under 18s are not allowed to join WhatsApp Community or private Facebook group. Parents and guardians may join on their behalf.
Do you offer kayak lessons?
We don’t offer a formal series of regular kayak lessons, but almost every session we run involves skills development and learning. We may also occasionally organise training and courses such as Personal Performance Awards. If you have something specific you would like to learn, we can probably help you get there.
Can you take me paddling on a day trip?
We can help you learn to paddle through the club, but we don’t offer one-day experiences. If you are looking for a “paddling experience” rather than joining a club – you might want to consider local providers.
Do I need to be a member to come to session?
No. Non-members are welcome at pool sessions to meet the members and get a feel for the club. After attending three pool sessions we ask you to join as a member. Pool sessions can be booked on webcollect.
Do I need my own equipment?
No. One of the great things about joining a club is that we have lots of equipment you can borrow to get you started. Kit costs £5 per person per session for outdoor sessions, and is included in the price of booking a pool session. We also have lots of knowledgeable members who can help you choose what equipment to purchase, if and when you decide to do so. You can pay for kit hire online.
How do I become a member?
You can join our club on our webcollect.
Do you offer discounts for joining part-way through the year?
If you join us with less than 3 months left (i.e. from 1st June), we’ll give you the remainder of the current year for free. So if you join on 1st June 2025 your membership will run until September 2026 in the first year, effectively giving you up to 15 months membership for the price of 12.
How do I cancel my membership?
Membership is set up via direct debit and automatically renews each year. If you have decided not to renew your membership, you must cancel your direct debit before the 1st September.
How do I report a concern?
You can email our welfare officer privately if you have any welfare issues. See also our Safeguarding policy.
