The time it takes to paddle along to Cullercoats Bay from Longsands varies greatly with the tide.
When the tide is out there is a stretch of rock that needs to be paddled round.
But if the tide is right in you can paddle straight across, through the seaweed forest, over the rock formations and on to Cullercoats Bay through the two small piers and onto the beach. If it’s really high you can paddle through the cave and feel the swell of the sea push you in and pull you out.
